United Kingdom Hikes - 1980's
5 - The Lake District
Looking back down one of the many U shaped valleys, typical of glacial erosion. Narrow roads, barely more than a car width, cross a couple of the passes with gradients in excess of 1:4 and switchbacks so tight and steep that it's not uncommon to have one wheel come off the ground! Needless to say meeting oncoming traffic can be interesting to say the least. |
