Mt Wachusett |
|
After a few weeks lay off from hiking due to other commitments it was good to be back out in the woods and weather again. Still couldn't get a full days hiking in so no long trip to the mountains. We decided on Mt Wachusett for our outing. A guidebook suggested loop trail of about 4 miles seemed like a good distance to get the muscles loosened up again.
So, with the benefit of only an hours drive we didn't leave Chicopee until a little after 8am. Drove up via the Mass Pike and I290. The return journey by way of Rtes 2 and 202 was less hectic and ten miles shorter! We parked in the ski lodge parking lot which was virtually empty it being pre-ski season. Karen and Lisa decided on a last minute bathroom break so while they made use of the facilities I enquired about trail maps, the one culled from the guidebook was a little sparse on detail. The gentleman that showed me where to pick up the trail map suggested a slightly different loop. Said it was a favorite of his. So, without further ado... the hike... |
