22 - Turkey Vulture


He did have a head - honest! It's not easy taking pictures of these birds as they effortlessly ride the thermals around the ridge. Of the half dozen or so pictures I took this is the only one that was halfway useable. Despite how it looks in the image he was in fact a few hundred yards away. The image here was cropped from a much larger one and that was at an 8x zoom.

Despite the headless look this image does show off well the finger like spread to the wingtip feathers.
