The Seven Sisters |
|
This was a long hike and few pictures. Have to take more next time!
The Seven Sisters Trail is part of the Metacomet-Monadnock long distance trail. I had estimated the distance to be a 5 1/2 mile hike...it turned out to be a 5 1/2 HOUR hike and was more like 7 miles. The Seven Sisters are seven summits along the ridge line. Well we climbed every darn one plus a few visiting cousins it seemed! By the time we reached the Notch we were exhausted. The trail starts at the base of Mt Holyoke on the unpaved access road just off Rte 47. The climb to the Summit House alone took us an hour. A bathroom break for the others allowed me time to do some user support over the phone. Work break over we head off. The summit is acessible by road and the trail wends through the neat grassy areas and grill stations for the visitors. Then it plunges down to the first notch, Taylor Notch. Then it's up again. Then down... then up... then down... You get the picture? Definitely one to do again to see if we get any fitter! |
