With a new pair of boots, plenty of water and a trail map we head of from the Notch Visitor Center and head east up Mt Norwottuck. The trail is easy to follow and after clearing the quarry area starts a steady climb to the summit with a few ups and downs along the way. We take many short breaks to catch our breath and slow the heart. We realize we are not that fit!

After the summit and glorious views we continue on to visit the horse caves before returning along our outward path. The return, mostly all downhill, requires far fewer stops.
